The Munich School Foundation Ernst v. Borries opened a bilingual, German-English forest kindergarten in September 2015. The school is located in Aubinger Lohe, in München-Lochhausen.
Nowadays it can be difficult for children to find the time-and even the space-to fulfill their natural urge to move while outdoors. Science has proven, however, that spending time in the nature and fresh air is imperative to our overall well-being and harmony. In the peace and quiet of the forest, children perceive themselves in the here and now. Through this, children learn how to concentrate better and learn how to deal better with stressful situations; they learn to connect informal free play with structured learning.
Our forest kindergarten has one group with a maximum of 20 places, accepting children from 3 years of age. The educational staff consists of two pre-school teachers and a support staff member. In addition, the head of the forest kindergarten is an educated nature-and-outdoors education specialist.
